Board of Directors

I am a Consultant who specialises in a number of areas of relating
to tertiary education, Competence-Based Education and Training
(CBET), quality management systems and quality assurance. I’ve
worked locally, regionally and internationally with a variety of
organisations, tertiary institutions and awarding bodies. My skills
and experiences include: training, assessment and verification;
developing occupational standards and curriculum; managing and
leading others; designing and developing policies and procedures
and developing quality assurance and quality management systems,
whilst following international standards and best practices.

I am a firm believer that it is essential to ensure that all members of
society are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to
develop into contributing members of society. This starts with
ensuring that even disadvantaged groups excluded from society for
various reasons also have access to the opportunity to improve on
their literacy and numeracy skills.

I have a huge vested interest in the personal and academic
development of children and strongly believe that literacy is at the
heart of this journey.

I am a professional accountant with experience in public accounting
firms and have been working in the area of taxation for the last seven
years. Serving as Treasurer in this capacity therefore, represents an apt
fit. I am also a UK qualified Mental Health First Aider, being highly
passionate about promoting the general mental health and well-being
of people. Greater awareness in this area is also a feature I’d like to see
formally embraced within the school environment.

A few years ago, prior to rejoining the world of work, I opted to be a
full time hands on parent to my two daughters. This provided me with
great insight and an ability to focus on their early development on
literacy, numeracy and many other developmental and social skills.

I have also served in a voluntary capacity on reading programs at the
primary school level so wholeheartedly embrace the relevance of the
work of The Literacy Project Charity.

Enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate are three of the words I use to
describe my feelings about ensuring that each student in his or her
own way develops a love for literacy. Therefore, even though over
the years I have had the opportunity to develop my interests in areas
related to Neuro education, Neurodiversity and Psychometric
Testing, this desire has remained constant.

As a teacher who has worked in the field of Special Education for
over twenty five years, I fully understand that literacy, although at
times linked to the classroom and the subject of Language Arts, is
fundamental to all aspects of who we are as individuals, what we do
and how we engage with others.

I have witnessed both the joy, opportunities and the world that
becomes available to individuals who develop their skills in this area,
as well as the challenges others face when not afforded the
opportunity to do so. Literacy truly is life- a life of endless
possibilities.

recognized target groups.

As a certified life coach, who understands the need for motivating and
supporting individuals towards their goals I bring a 360 perspective of
products and people to the team.

My passion for working with and helping young people is fed by my role as
a part time Lecturer in Marketing at the University of the West Indies and
further enriched by the work being done by the Literacy Project. It is
paramount that the amazing work being undertaken through this project be
supported and provided opportunities to grow, and positively touch as many
individuals as possible. Helping to tell the story of the Literacy Project
through diverse marketing channels is a tasks which I am excited to
undertake.
